Computer lliterate?

Image
So, no picture today. Oh, wait- today is crazy picture Thursday. Let me go download one. This is a picture of a rug and two throw pillows, taken off the internet from some art show. What a way to say good morning, when you first step out of bed! Let me just say that trying to install my new webcam has been the hardest thing I've done online yet. Blogging is nothing compared to trying to figure out which program that I have installed in the past two years is now using my speaker from my webcam. I feel like my computer has been neglected and now it is loaded down with lots and lots of junk food- ie programs, downloads galore, etc. I have now switched to firefox to get faster service and I couldn't post my blog because cookies was not enabled. First of all, who calls it cookies??? Second of all, who dis-enabled my cookies??? I didn't! Anyways. I will go download my webcam when my computer is washed, cleaned and dried. It even tells me I still have print jobs running from my ol...

Tired.

Image
Have you ever been so tired that you can't even talk? I am like this this morning. I am normally a morning person, so I am usually talking a lot, or humming or moving around. Today I can barely talk. I had to give Elizabeth a thumbs up, when she wanted to be excused from breakfast. Crazy, huh? I'm trying to install my webcam that I bought so I can use Skype. I spent an hour on it yesterday and Josh even tried it. I think I dropped it, so now it doesn't work! If it doesn't work by Thursday- my errand day- I am going to return in and just get a normal speaker thing. Hopefully people at BestBuy will be there to help me. This is a picture of me for my Sype (sype.com- it's where you can make phone calls online) label thing. This is my blog. My name is Megan Abbott

Monday Madness

Image
This past weekend we went boating- ok, not me and Asher, but Josh and the three kids. There's a local lake that rents out small boats. We've been there before and we wanted to go before it closes for the season next weekend. The boys loved it. Elizabeth wanted to go back after ten minutes. Now, it is Monday Madness. I let the boys cry themselves to sleep last night. How old are they do you ask? Three and a half, and still not sleeping through the night? Yes! I think the move shook them up. Needless to say, at 2:30 am JOnah woke up and cried for a half an hour. I sat up and waited for him to sleep. After screaming at the top of his lungs, asking for a story, his blanket, anything! he fell asleep. I told them I wouldn't get them the night before, so they wouldn't feel neglected. A half an hour someone cried again, but fell back asleep. At 4 am Ethan woke up and I thought it was Jonah again. I went in there, not willing to let him cry it out again- I would try in another m...

Co-Dependency, Season 2

Image
So...yesterday I went to therapy. Counseling that is. I've done it before. When Elizabeth was six months old I began having nightmares almost daily. I couldn't get rid of them, so I went to the counseling center at BYU. They diagnosed me with low self esteem. Ok. There you go. The nightmares stopped and I later stopped going to therapy. Fast forward three years. I had a three year old and two one year old twins and was staying at home. I decided I needed therapy again. This time when I went to counseling all I could tell them was that I was unhappy and that I had SAD- seasonal affective disorder. My therapist was new and we didn't get along very well. She just kept telling me- you are not opening up to me. How could I when I just didn't get along with her? Six months ago, when Asher was six months old, I was reading a relationship book and diagnosed myself with having co-dependency. This is when you rely on others for your self esteem. I read all I could on it and made ...

Diving Spoon

Welcome to funny picture day Thursday. Every Thursday I am going to post a funny picture. It's to celebrate making through half the week, just like Josh's job does when they bring donuts and danishes to the lunch on Mondays and Thursdays. Sure, you have to work twelve hour days, but it's worth the free donut, right? Sure, you have to slog through my boring blogs daily, but it's worth it for funny picture Thursday, right? In other news, I've bought a web cam/speaker for my computer! Hooray! It should be up and running soon. Now, I encourage all to get one, so I can see your lovely faces from across the country! In sad news, I have run out of money for decorating our home. Now it has to stay in the condition it is until 1) I break down and run my credit card bill higher than it even is now. 2) Josh gets a huge bonus for something (not likely in the near future) 3) I get gifts of money (please send them to: home in need of more stuff, Montgomery Village...

I'm getting ready for a talk this week at Church. I should have known this was coming, as our Church leaders always like to ask the new ones to speak. My topic is Personal Spiritual Learning. Do I know a lot about this? I don't know if I do! And if I do, I don't know if I know how to teach it to a congregation of people, mostly older and smarter than me. We'll see how it goes! If you want to check out my Church's website it is : www.lds.org . This is my blog. My name is Megan Abbott.

New website...

Image
This is a lung ashtray. Pretty funny, huh? From time to time, I run into fun websites. I got this website: http://www.threelayercake.com/ from another blog. I will be posting more fun pictures later this week. It's five am and I'm awake! Why? Because all my kids are sleeping through the night and I have no idea how sleep through the night myself. Can anyone teach me? How to sleep through the night, 1 oh 1 for Mothers who have not slept through the night for years. For those of you who are still wondering whether I will jump on the techno band wagon and buy a microphone and webcam, I plan to do it soon! My nights and weekends have been booked with home projects and new state parks to visit (this weekend we went to a Shaker Forest Festival- didn't bring my camera- big oops- very cool), so when things calm down, I hope to jump on that wagon right away! This is my blog. My name is Megan Abbott.

Happy 5th Birthday, Elizabeth!

Image
Happy Birthday, Elizabeth! Elizabeth had her birthday party on Saturday. We invited just a few friends, which was nice and decorated crowns, played guess what princess I am and what time is it Cinderella. We also ate bagel pizzas and had crown cake and pinata. It was lots of fun and despite any stress caused by planning it, we all had fun. This is my blog. My name is Megan Abbott.

Zoom, zoom

Image
Josh, you are ready to speed off to your new job with your new (ok- used, but new to you) 2002 Nissan Altima. Yeah! You get to ride in style! I swore we would never own two cars that were the same color, because it looks like we own a fleet of the same car. So, our next van- after this one wears out or we get too big for it, will definitely not be silver. Hot pink, maybe. Silver no. I've learned with Josh going back to work, that work is something that really motivates some people. Josh is now happier, more excited about life and more motivated. If it didn't cause this improvement in him, I would say don't go to work! Now that I know that work for him is like having babies for me, I support him in every way! It's amazing what joy we can find in our lives by fulfilling our roles. Ok. Off my soap box. Have a good day. Megan Abbott.

Bedroom Pictures

When Josh removed the 80's wallpaper, we found this note written underneath: "Jack McDermott (the owners we bought the home from) 7/29/87" Twenty years ago! We knew it! We knew it was twenty years old! Josh painted our room a "classic taupe" color. We had decided between classic taupe and wild porcini (what is that anyways?) We had not decided on a final color, so Josh got the wild porcini. After one wall, I looked at it and did not like it. We got classic taupe and it was so much better. Who would have known that two shades so similar would come out so different? He painted the windows sills white also, which is nice. Now we need a headboard, a chair and some curtains. Our budget is rapidly dwindling though, so I don't know how much we'll do! Josh came home last night at 10 to 7. I taught Joy School that morning and was so tired by 6 pm, that we watched the first episode of season one of The Muppet Show. That brightened by day. This is my blog. My name ...

Editorial Error

This is to inform the reader that the blog site mentioned early should actually have read: http://www.typetive.com/ and look under the candy blog site, not www.candyblog.com . Thank you for your patience. This is my blog. My name is Megan Abbott.

Living Room- still in progress though

Image
Here's a picture of our formal living room, plus furniture. It's still a work in progress though, as I need to add newer pictures, a rug and throw pillows. Thanks to all who have made comments to my blog. I will keep posting daily, or almost daily. Yesterday I could not get online at all. I think it was our power shortage that effected it! This morning is my turn to teach Joy School! We'll see how it goes. Yesterday I got my hair cut from a lady in our ward. She did a great job, even with her four and two year old running around like crazy. Here's a blog I recently found late at night: www.candyblog.com . I plan on giving new, different candy out this Halloween. Josh started his new job yesterday. He came home at ten to seven. When he walked in, all the kids were reading books. I said "Daddy's home" and went to greet him. The kids kept reading, when normally they would all run and greet him. They must have been too tired already! Then, Josh fell asleep on ...

16 Hours of Darkness

Image
This is what Josh was doing last night when, at around 6 pm, we lost all electricity. It did not come back on until 10 am this morning. During that time I was outbid on an item at ebay that I really wanted (aka oval mohogany mirror for our front foyer), the kids became very intrigued (Jonah kept saying "let's turn this light on. I would try. It didn't light. Well...he said "let's turn THIS light on" still no light. " Let's turn the tv. No tv! Imagine that!) and we spent some time reading stories by flashlight. During our move we were unable to pack anything flammable and Ethan broke our only good flashlight so we were light-less literally. Luckily we borrowed items from Craig and Ellen and made a quick trip to the store for some small flashlights to use as nightlights. There are all these things you never know you use until they are not there anymore. Nightlights, air conditioning (poor Asher woke up sweating all over), the computer. I have to say th...

A New Floor!

Image
A new floor! We have a new floor- finally! Ten days later, three sanding machines and an edger, lots of dust, noise and some money we are done! Now we can add our furniture- what we have of it and move on to the Master Bedroom.

Busy

We've been so busy lately, that I am thinking about only posting on my blog one day a week. What do you guys think? Joy School, Laundry, Dishes, Cleaning the house- that reminds me- I need to do a load of laundry- home improvement projects and even getting lost in our new area takes up so much of my time. Let me know what you think. This is my blog. My name is Megan Abbott.

Happy Tuesday

Image
Happy Tuesday everyone! Here's a picture of our new washer and dryer. We had to buy one when we got the house and since we've already owned used ones and we want these ones to last us well into the years when Josh will work for the government, we bought these front loaders- which I love! I like to fold the clothes right on top and then take them to their respective rooms. The one draw back is that the buttons are on the front. When we first got them Ethan said "I'm going to wash the clothes" and pushed the button to start it. Too bad the clothes had already been washed and were now being washed again! Now we don't leave clothes in there and that's probably good for me to do anyways! Today was the first day of Joy School. Ethan was excited, Jonah was sad and didn't really want to go, until he heard there would be toys there. Elizabeth also wanted to go and we let her. So, this morning I was toddler free and we went with Ellen and Jason, ...

House Pictures

Image
This week I hope to post a few house pictures, so that you can more accurately picture our home in your head. Plus, it's fun too. This is a picture of our fireplace in the family room. The whole wall is red brick. Very 70's. I like it, but would like to make it more modern some day. The carpet also needs to be replaced, but for now we are just covering it. We are focusing on fixing up the front formal living room and then later fixing up our family room. Hope everyone had a good weekend! Love, Megan

99 Balloons

Good Morning. I don't usually post on Saturdays, but I was up early this morning, explaining to Elizabeth how long it takes to become a Mommy and then found this video online: http://www.ignitermedia.com/products/iv/singles/570/99-Balloons Watch it. It is amazing. Love, Megan
