How embarrassing!

Image
The other day Josh was telling me a story of how one of his co-workers really put his foot in his mouth and said something embarrassing about another person. It reminded me of a similar situation. When Josh and I were dating, Josh's roommate was planning on asking his girlfriend to marry him. He came over to my apartment and showed us the fake ring that he had just purchased to propose with. We oohed and ahhed over it and he told us his whole plan on how he would propose in the next day or two. We were excited for him and thrilled that he was taking the next big step. Later that afternoon, I went and got my hair cut by our friend who did hair. While I was sitting there, I excitedly told our friend of this friend's happy plans. I prattled on about the ring, going into detail by detail of how he was planning to set the stage and then propose. As I did so, I saw in the mirror the face of the other hair stylist working right next to us. She looked absolutely shocked! I loo...

The Opposite Day Game

Image
As you already know, my kids like playing games. This morning it was the "Opposite Day Game". I knew it from the moment Elizabeth said, very passionately, "It's NOT Opposite Day!" Ethan replied with "You're right. It's NOT Opposite Day and today is definitely NOT Sunday." I'm completely fine with Opposite Day, until the 4 year completely misses the concept. "Yes, it is!!! It is Sunday!" exclaimed Asher, our 4 yr old. Elizabeth kindly informed him that "No, it is NOT Sunday, because it is NOT Opposite Day." Somehow by saying that it is NOT Opposite Day he should understand that it is opposite day. I tried to play along with them. "Don't get dressed. Don't make your bed or brush your teeth." They all cheered in unisom- I mean- unison- especially the 4 yr old who did not get it. We made it through 3 hours and Church and once they hit the door it was again "Opposite Day" or should I call it "...

Time Zonage

It's funny living in the East, with Eastern standard time. There are some positives and negatives to it. Positive: I get to read e-mails before most people are even awake. 2. I get to blog before most people are awake also so it always surprises them when I've blogged already today- like today! Negative: I can't call anyone at 9 am when I am stressed out, since it would be 6 am in California where my Parents, sister Larissa and brother Tommy live, or it would be 7 am in Utah where my other two sisters live, as well as in Missouri where my twin sister lives. Bleh. Hope you all have a good morning! I've already been up since 5 am and that would be 2 or 3 am your time! Love, Megan

A funny story

Image
I was visiting my neighbor yesterday and she told me a funny story. She works at a local restaurant, The Flaming Pit, that serves steaks, etc. She was asked to come in and help with a large party. There would be twenty five people in the group they said, but it was a Church group so it should be calm. It turns out that it was a gay and lesbian Church. She said that they were all dressed in furs and everything and it was really strange. Later, while I was standing in line at CVS, the thought hit me "The flaming pit. A gay and lesbian Church at the flaming pit. Hee hee." This is my blog. My name is Megan Abbott. p.s Hi, to my counselor Joe and to my friend Deborah!! New invites to my glorious blog!
