Asher in Youngstown on his mission

Image
Asher has been in Youngstown, Ohio for three transfers now. It's kind of a ghetto area but he loves working with all different kinds of people and he's had great companions as well. Elder Soares came to his mission and that was a really great experience for Asher. Time is flying by and soon we'll get to have him home! He's doing a great work until then.

Asher is training and a district leader!

Asher is still in Perry but this time he is training a brand new Elder and is District Leader. He’s being humbled but he will do a great job! Love you, Asher!!

Asher’s first area

Asher’s first area is Perry, Ohio right on Lake Erie and near the Kirkland Temple. His first trainer Elder Southwick was chill and taught calmly and well. He was with him for two transfers and has now been with Elder Hayes for two transfers- four and a half months. Elder Hayes is also chill and relaxed. Asher’s loved it in Ohio so far! He loves the people, he loves serving and teaching. Two friends that are eight and ten got baptized recently and another friend Luis. Also another friend right when he got there. We’re excited to see where he serves next!

Asher was set apart on Sept 1st and started home MTC the next day. His setting apart blessing was so neat. He was blessed with patience and strength. Monday night after starting the MTC, Asher came down with a cold- complete with fever, chills and a cough. He was sick the whole time and listened to his online classes on the couch. He fly into Provo still sick and entered the NTC sick- poor guy! He just really wanted to go in with his district. He loves his district and has had a great experience so far with an awesome companion. He still has a cough but he’s doing okay. We are so proud of you, Asher! Keep up the good work! He leaves for THE Great Ohio, Columbus mission this Wed Sept 25th.

Asher is preparing for a mission!

Last Friday evening- April 5th, after waiting 10 days, Asher got a text that said his mission call was ready! He texted me from work and let me know. We were all excited! I asked him when he wanted to open it and he said Sunday night with his friends and ward leaders. I said ok! I scheduled a Zoom call for family that lived out of town and we got ready. I can't believe he waited two whole days to open it!  Right before, he got nervous and said "I could be going anywhere!" His friend had asked him where he wanted him to go and he replied "Oh, somewhere random!" He opened his mission call and read "You are called to serve in the Columbum, Ohio Mission." English speaking. Starting Sept. 2, 2024. So excited! Kinda random, so of course, the call was to OHIO! We just laughed about it later- Ohio! Seems so random but perfect for Asher! We are so excited for him to go serve the Lord!
