Headache Update!

Image
Here's my headache update. My headache has been so much better! I hardly notice it anymore but when I think about whether it's there or not, it still is just a little. It's been amazing to see the growth and progress as it's gotten better. It started out with long stretches of being better and then has gotten to this point of me barely noticing it. I went to a neurologist at the U and he just gave me a list of triggers to watch out for since I'm doing so much better. Yay!! Here are a few pictures lately: It's been quite the snowy winter with a storm at least weekly dumping 4-8 inches each time. Declan loves to go out and eat the snow- even if it's dyed a little green! Ethan made this green snow tree covered in snowballs- pretty neat! The morning after another storm came and left everything covered in white. The kids love it! I wrote this post about two weeks ago, but it still snowed this morning so I can still say it snowed! It's been warmer and rainy an...

On snowy days

Image
Last Monday night I made plans for the second day of Christmas vacation. Those included the Thanksgiving Point Museum and baking cookies. As I watched the snow flakes line up in a straight line on my Weather channel app which were followed by the very real deal of soft, fluffy snowflakes cascading down from the Snow White sky, those plans changed. We nixed the museum idea, stayed in our pajams until 10 or for some of us all day, and added building a snowman to the list. The big boys went sledding, the girl stayed inside and the toddler and I made a small snowman from perfect snowman making snow. He had fun and tried to knock the snowman down like he does with his blocks. I distracted him with plastic, colorful buttons and twigs for arms. A cup of hot chocolate always convinces the littlest ones to come inside and after half a sippy cup of hot chocolate with a splash of milk, I read him two books and sang him two songs- including Silent Night in the mix- and tucked him into bed. As I di...

I wonder...

Image
I wonder if I could blog every. single. morning. Declan now likes to watch a few episodes of Elmo's World in his pajamas right after we drop the boys off at school. Elizabeth walks to the Middle School (7,8,9th) bus stop (her bus has crazy kids on it she tells me) about 10 minutes before. We say family prayers right before she goes. She usually has no shoes on during the prayer nd is trying to get out the door, but we don't like to start the day without it. Declan will sometimes told his arms and say "amen!" This morning the boy's coats were still wet and muddy from going sledding yesterday. They came home from school, got bundled up and went right outside for a snowball fight. It didn't end in tears- which is rare- and when that got old, they grabbed their 2 sleds (maybe I need another one since there are 3 actually 4 big kids) and went sledding at the nearby park that has awesome hills! No one got hurt and it was a fun afternoon for all! Asher said "thi...

Sometimes

Image
Sometimes I read a blog post and just tear up, the writing is so beautiful. Thank you, Elise, thank you. Today is cold and snowy- the first of many here in Utah. I have crashed on the couch in my very well loved eggplant snuggie and am coasting out the afternoon while Declan naps. He's been sick lately- fever, runny nose, cough, sore throat. Poor little guy. Maybe he got it from nursery. Maybe the kids brought it home. I'm not sure. He sure hates the Tylenol I give hem. He lets it pool in his mouth and then spits it right out. Oh, sweet little one. Here's a picture of him in the first snow fall this Fall. I was trying to get him to look at me instead of the snow and he was not having it!  In other news, I am on a new medicine instead of lithium. It's called Latuda. What kind of name is that? It's just a weird funky name. It's a new drug and it's safer to use during any possible future baby in utero events. My afternoon blues have completely disappeared but I...

Snow Day!

Image
Elizabeth and Dad (the sled broke on the first run thru! Good thing we had another one!) On January 4th, we made the 2 hr drive up to Pine, AZ and Josh's boss's cabin- with the hope to play in the snow. There was not a lot of snow around- I guess next time we'll have to go right after a snow storm! We looked online and found some more snow 15 minutes North in Strawberry so we headed up that way. We found a turn off in the road, with a sign saying "No snow playing." There was lots of snow and several families playing, so we decided to go for it. The kids had a great time- especially sledding! I put away my Mother's inhibition and let Josh take the boys to the very top of a steep hill.    Elizabeth and her tiny snowman! After we played in the snow, we headed back to the cabin and had hot chocolate and hot chicken noodle soup for dinner. It was great to have a place to crash and change into dry clothes instead of making the drive home right away! ...

Snow Day, #4

Image
No school again today. Amazing: We went sledding and the kids had a blast! They were so excited to see the new, untouched white snow at the bottom of our street and the big snow pile the trucks had made at the end of the road. Amazing: We got a new game of Candyland- ours was missing essential pieces- and had fun playing w/ it. They now have a cupcake commons, icecream land and a Princess Frostine who is dressed immodestly. I miss our "vintage" game. I'm not that old, am I? Amazing: I had a dream that I was pregnant and it was a boy and he was nestled in my left side. Amazing: My sweetheart left chocolates on the freshly made bed this morning: knowing I was not thrilled about the snow day ahead. Awful: This morning the kids left to go play outside and the new game was scattered across the floor. I hate that. I couldn't call them in to clean it up because it would get mixed with snow and ice Awful: We went sledding yesterday- Asher forgot his boots and his gloves fell ...

Snow Day, #3

Image
Asher and my snowman. The snow was so heavy we had to struggle to lift it! Elizabeth is trying to be tall by standing on her almost built snowman behind him. Elizabeth and her tiny snowman. Yes- she's wearing her pajamas- and Asher too. She wore them all day and all night, but not today. I didn't mind! No school today. The kids are very happy. Luckily, we never lost electricity last night! The lights flickered and went out once- causing all clocks and computers to reset- but other than that we were fine! Lost of downed tree branches because of the heavy snow though. These pictures are from yesterday. The pictures I took from today I'll post tomorrow, as I think it will be snow day #4 since the snow will melt and then freeze- causing ice. We'll see what happens though! Also, a neighbor boy came by last night and offered to shovel our driveway in the morning. We took him up on it and this morning he and his Dad showed up with a snow blower. Phew! I was wondering how he wa...

Today in the Snow

Image
This is what we are doing today: playing in the snow! A big storm came and swooped the East Coast. We were waiting to see what it would do here and finally around 6 pm it started lightly snowing. Enough to coat the roads with ice and cancel Activity Days/YW. School is delayed 2 hrs and we're playing in the snow. What are you doing today? This is my blog. My name is Megan A.

It's almost Valentines day...

Image
but all we can really talk about is the snow! Luckily we were able to make Valentines Day crafts- a crown, treat bags, snow crafts- snow scoopers and do some baking- heart sugar cookies- while the snow came down! Sadly, the kids school Valentines Day parties were all missed- maybe they will reschedule them for next week! Here are more pics of the snow. There may be a storm headed here for Monday. If school is closed on Tuesday, it will be crazy! Happy Valentines Day, everyone!

Snow day, bubble machine and pics

Image
Here's Ethan behind a bubble from his bubble machine. Ashe is trying to pop the bubble and Jonah doesn't want him to! The hat Jonah is wearing used to be mine when I was little. Jonah! Hilary, I practiced your zooming in and natural lighting- what do you think? Snow in front! Snow in back! Today is a snow day! We went to a Math Night at the school last night and it started snowing right before we left. Snow had been predicted. I didn't even know - I was informed of this by at least three teachers at school yesterday when I went and volunteered. "It's supposed to snow tonight and Saturday!" one teacher gleefully exclaimed. Another teacher: "it's really supposed to snow tonight!" and the third one- when I was picking up the kids from school- "Any news on the weather?" Nope. I don't really have a ton invested in what the weather is like. Yes, my kids stay home but that's about it. The snowflakes came down slowly starting at 6 pm a...
