July 4th

Image
We did our own little fireworks show of little fountains (for the 1st time ever since they are illegal in MD). The boys LOVED it! I love Asher's face! I love having boys! I guess I better blog about our 4th of July before it's August and school has begun! School starts here August 8th. That means 2 1/2 weeks left people! Aah! I'm both excited and sad. Excited for all the new things the kids will learn and do; sad because life will once again take it's more structure schedule. The calendar will fill up and the days will fly by. I've been having problems with my cameras (big and little). They won't download any pictures and so I can just grab a few for my blog or other things and then save them on my memory card. Now, both my memory cards are almost full! I bought a memory card reader and it didn't fit one one of my cards! Hmph! Hope everyone is having a great summer! This is my blog. My name is Megan Abbott. -BTW- We had a big dust storm yesterday! We were ju...

Gratitude!

Image
My Mothering post was still staring at me this morning like old news. I am ready to move up and onward with my life and so I am posting another edition of Gratitude! I'm Grateful for: -the FULL moon in the Desert Heat. -looking through Baby Books I haven't seen in almost a year. -Josh. Simply put. He is kind. He is amazing. He puts up with me 24-7! -Seeing Sadie chase a new, squeaky ball (those are her favorite). -The last day of a 2 week summer camp and a trip to the Temple for me sans kids! -Buying movies on Amazon.com. No more going to Wal-mart, buying a redbox, watching it, forgetting to return it for 3 days, and then getting in the car again! (my kids are on a Harry Potter kick and have seen the first 3 in the past couple of weeks. We may stop there though!) -Blogging. I still love reading blogs and writing blogs. -Rain in the Desert. (July 4th!) Thank you weather man! -Watermelon cut into the shape of stars and paired with blueberries. -The kids cheering loudly at their f...

Fourth of July and Fishing!

Image
On Saturday, July 2, we took the kids to a free fishing class held at Seneca Creek State Park. I heard of it while doing a Park Quest (an awesome event held by Maryland State Parks where you do fun quests at each one of their state parks for free) and jumped on board! The kids were so excited to go! We decided to start with just 2 rods but the teacher handed out 2 more and soon all were fishing. It started off slowly- with another kid catching one and another. Finally Jonah caught one and we were thrilled! Then Elizabeth then Ethan and then Asher. I couldn't keep up fast enough. The instructors would un-hook the fish and toss it into a cooler before I could say cheese and snap a photo. After about a half hour in the sun of this fishing and having caught about 9 fish, we headed off on our own to the lake's shore and ended up catching 3 more. It was so fun! To sum it all up, the kids are asking when they can go again and I'm trying hard to find a spot in our weekend to go. Ma...

My 1st 5K

Image
Me- tired after the long, hot run. Everyone was looking towards the Parade- not at me! Elizabeth and her close friend Madison I've been training for a 5k for quite a while now. Since January I think. The 5k training program I have is for 8 weeks. There were no good 5 K's going on in the end of February. Nothing. So, I stretched my training into sixteen weeks. I found a nice 5K downtown D.C. for the end of April and even registered for it. Then I got pregnant, miscarried and had to schedule the D and C for the same week as the 5 K. Bleh. The next one coming up was on July 4th. Two months later. July 4th? Are you kidding me? July is not a good time to run. Even I could tell you that. Me. The novice. So, I decided to do it anyways. Even if I would be gone on a vacation very soon before that. Even I had not stuck to my training schedule for the third time in a row. I was going to do it. So, I did it. And it felt SO GOOD! Yes, it was hot. Yes, it was tiring. But, I DID IT! I ran ov...
