Hello.

Image
Josh may not like that I have posted his picture, but I love this guy!! I feel badly that I have not been blogging much lately. It's not like blogging is a kind of competition, or anything (really!), but I LIKE blogging. I really like blogging. And problems with my camera+ moving+ an older home with lots of issues= me not blogging much. And other various ventures (all good btw!) mean that I won't be blogging much until two more weeks. I know that once school starts, and the house is quiet once again (I am now super excited!), I can blog again. AND SO... Since I won't be blogging for a little while I will end with: "Happy 11th Anniversary, Babe!" (on August 4th) I'm be back soon. I promise! This is my blog. My name is Megan Abbott. -So sad the situation in Colorado. Today at the Summer Movies an attendant came by and checked both exits. Will movie going ever be the same again? - I was at an event when someone mentioned that maybe James Hudson is Bipolar. For a ...

July 4th

Image
We did our own little fireworks show of little fountains (for the 1st time ever since they are illegal in MD). The boys LOVED it! I love Asher's face! I love having boys! I guess I better blog about our 4th of July before it's August and school has begun! School starts here August 8th. That means 2 1/2 weeks left people! Aah! I'm both excited and sad. Excited for all the new things the kids will learn and do; sad because life will once again take it's more structure schedule. The calendar will fill up and the days will fly by. I've been having problems with my cameras (big and little). They won't download any pictures and so I can just grab a few for my blog or other things and then save them on my memory card. Now, both my memory cards are almost full! I bought a memory card reader and it didn't fit one one of my cards! Hmph! Hope everyone is having a great summer! This is my blog. My name is Megan Abbott. -BTW- We had a big dust storm yesterday! We were ju...

Latest Update

Image
Well, I guess since I mentioned in my last post that I love it when it pours down trials, more trials have hit and I've been humbled. No longer am I prideful and rejoicing in that fact that this move has been hard. I am holding on and doing my best to rejoice in the small, tender mercies of the Lord. The Tender Mercies: -Even though we lost access to water last night because of a broken pipe caused by a repair man, we were able to get it back quickly this afternoon. -I finished the laundry right before we lost our water. -We were able to go swimming in our pool this afternoon (Heavenly!!! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the pool at home idea!) and the water came back on right in time for me and the kiddos to have a hot showers! -Yesterday it rained and while we were figuring out what to do with the broken pipe, a double rainbow appeared. Amazing! -I have a stye (a red bump) in my eye from lack of sleep but was able to sleep in and it is getting better. -Even though it was something I didn't ...

Online again!

This is what you see after you walk beyond the first room. I like the space! I have more pictures but my camera is acting up and I don't have a lot of time! This is what you see when you walk right out of the back door. To the right is the pool, which is green since the home was left vacant for 2 weeks- but we're working on that! It feels so nice to type on a full keyboard and not on the little one on my phone! Of course, that is a first world problem, just like when your thumbs get sore from texting! We are in our new home and are happy to be over the hump of all the hard work of moving! Now, we just have to unpack everything but we can do it on our own time table! We moved everything an exactly 4 minute drive (I've done it many times now) south east on Saturday morning with the help of our Church Friends. We ran into a few bumps in the road (the 26 ft. truck was too small for all our stuff.), we couldn't find the place to turn on the water (so we made trips back to ou...

On Fostering

Image
Our road to Foster Care has been Amazing. It's been long and it will be longer still. It's had it's bumps and twists: when babysitters couldn't make it or when Josh had a business meeting during the adoption class. We started on this road with a desire to adopt . I had been thinking adoption for a while, but at some point, during the orientation, the speaker spoke on foster care and my heart told me yes! It took awhile to get Josh on board, and we didn't even have a job when we took the orientation class. But it all (the job and Josh and my desire) finally lined up. Oh, how I hope we can foster. It's been a little touch and go. Elizabeth got diagnosed with Depression and started therapy and Dr. visits. I have my own issues to deal with. We've wondered if we have too much on our plate as it is. But, I oh so hope this can happen. I want to be there for someone. I want to make a difference. It's more than just having a baby in the home (although that is n...

Asher's 6th Birthday!

Image
Asher on his birthday. He requested a cake in the form of a pirate ship but that fell apart, so I transformed the crumbs into a dirt and worm cake- he loved it! My baby is now 6!!! He is sporting fake tattoos from his Great Aunt Rachel. The cake again. I loved the combination of sour gummy worms and sweet chocolate- yum! Each of the siblings got Asher a present this year. Ethan bought him some "Space Silly Putty" that is a cool iridescent purple. The other kids wrapped up their own money and used toys and gave it to him. Actually, Asher's favorite present he told me later was the mini Book of Mormon Elizabeth gave him. So sweet! Hex Bugs! The older kids had more fun playing with these than Asher did! Another cake shot! Happy Birthday, Asher, we love you! I am partly sad that you are growing up and getting older and partly thrilled about the new experiences you will have! Love you Asher! This is my blog. My name is Megan Abbott. ...

We are Moving!!!

Image
Our new rental home. It's similar to my home growing up! The front room. These are all the pictures I took! :( Have I mentioned that on here yet? If some of my posts have been disorganized, or if I've repeated pictures, I'm sorry. My mind is in a lot of different places right now. Yep, we're moving. This Saturday! To a home less than a mile away from here, right next to the kid's school, complete with a pool and a big yard! We are super excited about it. Here's how it came about (if you don't know already). Once the heat hit in May, I decided that we were paying too much to not have a pool at our house. If you can swim 9 months out of the year, why not have a pool? Plus, the community pools are all tied to schools and are only open in June and July of the summer. So that means no swimming in August which is the hottest part of the year or September or October (which is possible here!). I started looking around and didn't really find anything better than ...

Happy Birthday, Asher Boy!

Image
Dear Asher, Your birthday comes a month and a half after the Ethan and Jonah's birthday and sometimes it gets lots in all of the summertime craziness. I'm sorry for that! You do get some fun birthdays though! Last year we went to the Hill Cumorah Pagent and you got to spend your birthday in a hotel with a pool. How cool is that? This year your birthday is on a Sunday and we'll celebrate with lots of yummy food, a fun cake and of course, presents! We already celebrated with a small friend Pirate Party. You loved seeing your friends after a month being out of school and you loved each present they chose for you. And the pirate pinata was a hit! Happy Birthday, My Birthday Boy! Love, Mom

Gratitude!

Image
My Mothering post was still staring at me this morning like old news. I am ready to move up and onward with my life and so I am posting another edition of Gratitude! I'm Grateful for: -the FULL moon in the Desert Heat. -looking through Baby Books I haven't seen in almost a year. -Josh. Simply put. He is kind. He is amazing. He puts up with me 24-7! -Seeing Sadie chase a new, squeaky ball (those are her favorite). -The last day of a 2 week summer camp and a trip to the Temple for me sans kids! -Buying movies on Amazon.com. No more going to Wal-mart, buying a redbox, watching it, forgetting to return it for 3 days, and then getting in the car again! (my kids are on a Harry Potter kick and have seen the first 3 in the past couple of weeks. We may stop there though!) -Blogging. I still love reading blogs and writing blogs. -Rain in the Desert. (July 4th!) Thank you weather man! -Watermelon cut into the shape of stars and paired with blueberries. -The kids cheering loudly at their f...

On Bearing Children...

Image
Disclaimer*** I wrote this post with a lot of strong emotion. Maybe it should be a journal type entry, maybe not. All I know is that when I write, I feel better and sometimes the only place I'm motivated to write is here. Thank you for being so patient and loving. I visited a new Dr. (read Psych.) last week. I made Josh tag along with me. Somehow when the Dr. sees that I have such great support at home, they are more helpful and kind. Usually. This day we were running slightly late and then a missed exit made us even later. This put this particular Dr. in an unhappy mood. I'm glad he saw me though- I had been waiting TWO months to see him! He agreed with the other Dr. (along with several Drs. actually) that getting pregnant on lithium was not the best option for all involved. I calmly answered the rest of his questions for a good 20 minutes, got my prescription refilled and cried my way into the bathroom. My hands are getting shaky even now as I type this. I(irrationally) felt ...

Jonah

Image
Jonah, Sometimes I look at you and wonder- what is going on behind those steel blue eyes of yours? You are often quiet, living in a deep inner world and I wonder what that world is like. What do you think about and what goes on in that world? Sometimes you come out of that world, when something really fun has happened, and you have to explain all about it. During those times, I just let you talk and talk and relish in the fact that you are TALKING! Sometimes you baffle your teachers. They don't understand why you are shy around them and why you don't really talk. I tell them that it's completely normal and that you will warm up to them eventually. Which you always do and they always love it when it happens. You love doing errands for your teachers, but you don't like being chosen every single time. You like to choose one or two really close friends- Andy or Andrew- and spend all your time with them. I'm glad Heavenly Father sent you down ...
