Goody Blog

Www.goodyblog.com. Check it out! Pretty fun. This is my blog. My name is Megan Abbott.

Fun quotes

"A turtle only progresses when he sticks his neck out." To change and improve you have to take risks! "When we believe it, we'll see it." This can go for anything such as believing Elizabeth is a good student, to thinking that all boys are rowdy. "Celebrate what's right with the world." I love being grateful- it always helps me be positive! "We all need something to be passionate about." Whether it's children or photography, swimming or scrapbooking, as we engage in our hobbies, we are happier. This is my blog. My name is Megan Abbott.

Summer School

It's one of those hot, humid days that I have nothing really to post about. Josh is late for me to go teach a piano lesson at the Church. It's really hard for him to leave around 5 pm every day to get home around 6:15 pm. Especially on Tuesdays. So, here I am- on the computer. The kids get to go to summer school this year. Even the boys! It's free and goes from 9 am-1 pm every day from July 6- July 30th. I'm way excited about this! It will give us something to do and will prepare the boys for when school starts in the Fall. This is my blog. My name is Megan Abbott.

Heat Wave!

Image
Ethan took this shot of me and Asher-boy. So, we're having a heat wave over here! Yesterday it was 85 and today it's the same. I planned to go running after Elizabeth gets home from school. Now I think it's just way too hot to run. It's humid and summer weather out there. It looks like spring has gotten passed by and summer is here! This is my blog. My name is Megan Abbott.

Happy 400th post!

So far, I have 400+ posts to my blog. Sorry I didn't do anything when it hit the big 4-0-0. I guess just everyday blogging gets you to this post. The first 100th post is cool, but by the time you get to 400 it's just the run-of-the-mill, same old- same old on your blog. Happy be-lated 400! This is my blog. My name is Megan Abbott.

Photography

Image
For a long time now, I've been interested in Photography. I've never taken a class in it and I'm not very good, but I love the emotions that a good picture can portray. I really want a Canon Rebel Powershot, dslr, camera. It may be too much of a camera for me though, so I've decided to just practice with my normal Olympus Digital camera. Ethan and Asher had a fun time posing for me!

Happy 60th!

Happy 60th Birthday, Mom! My Mom turns 60 today! Da-da-da-dah!!! Happy Birthday, Mom. We hope you have an awesome birthday! Josh always says it's good to celebrate a birthday, because you can look at how much you have accomplished- 60 years!- instead of fearing the future or regretting that fact that time has gone by. Love, Megan

Facebook

For those of you who don't know what facebook is- it's a neat website focused on social networking. I really, really, like it. Through it I've found High School Friends, BYU freshman friends, other BYU friends and mission friends. If you want to, check it out. www.facebook.com. Just don't get addicted like I did. And I don't get addicted to things easily. Really. This is my blog. My name is Megan Abbott.

Asher's Missing Tooth

So my friendwho has a day care watches my kids while I go to the php program on Monday Wednesday and Friday. Today when I got back, I found a crying Asher. Somehow he was playing with another 4 year old on a teeter totter and fell down and popped his left front tooth out. He was so sad. We prayed to find the tooth, found it- root and all- and I rushed him to a pediatric dentist. All he could do was check to see if he had broken any bones. He hadn't. Now Asher will be short one tooth for the next four or five years. Poor little guy!

Cherry Blossoms

Image
We went to see the Cherry Blossoms down in D.C. on the 4th. It's becoming a tradition now in our family. They were gorgeous and a good time was had by all. Asher in the stroller. He was wearing batman jammies that day too. Elizabeth forgot her coat and had to wear one of our friend's jackets. This was us trying to take a family picture. I guess Elizabeth, Jonah and Asher weren't into it. This is my blog. My name is Megan Abbott.

A few inspiring quotes

"True strength comes from leaning on the Lord." I love this quote. When times all of a sudden become hard, we can turn to Christ and He will help us bear the burden we are called upon to bear. I know this has happened in my life and once I've seen it happen, it's easier for me to rely on Him the next time something happens as well. 'Lift where you stand." President Uchdorf. To me this means to do my part, albeit how small or insignificant it seems to me- just do what I am supposed to do and then all will be well. This probably means turning the tv off for the kids right now and playing with them, which I'll go do now! This is my blog. My name is Megan Abbott.

Lithium

"If you or someone you know is being treated with lithium, you most likey have questions about this drug. What does it do? How effective is it? Is it safe? This pamphlet provides you with basic inormation about the psychiatric use of lithium. What is lithium?...lithium carbonate and lithium citrate, chemicals which are used as treatments for some mental disorders. What are the current psychiatric uses of lithium? Basically, it states that manic episodes typically are characterized by hyperactivity, elation, overtalkativeness, tremendous energy, dcreased need for leep and usually but not always poor judgement. Manic attacks persist, on the average, from 1 to 3 months. Depressive episodes have persistent feelings of hopelessness, inappropraite sadness and a general loss of interest in people, things and ideas that were important in the past. Symptoms: lack of energy, insomnia or sleeping too much, loss of appetitie, weight loss or weight gain, inability to make simple decisions, etc...

Lots of pregnancies!

Image
Cherry Trees- Delivering newborn beauty with blossoms! So, now there are three women in Josh's family who are expecting! Wow! What a pregnancy boom! Out of nine siblings, someone is usually pregnant! It's funny to see actually! I had a dream last night that my friend gave birth to a two pound blonde pixie baby. What does that mean when you have dreams about your friend's pregnancy? I'm so excited to see lots of new little babies this year! This is my blog. My name is Megan Abbott.

Happy Birthda, Josh!

The Journey

The Journey, by David Whyte Above the mountains the geese turn into the light again painting their black silhouettes on an open sky. Sometimes everything has to be enscribed across the heavens so you can find the one line already written inside you. Sometimes it takes a great sky to find that first, bright and indescribable wedge of freedom in your own heart. Sometimes with the bones of the black sticks left when the fire has gone out someone has written something new in the ashes of your life. You are not leaving. Even as the light fades quickly. You are arriving. I love this poem. Ever since I was 14 or 15 I 've written poetry. I love it. It's like opening a shut window of your soul and letting everything out. After watching American Idol last night and seeing how each singer has been singing since they were little, I asked myself what have I done since I was younger? I have written. Stories. Poetry. And now- blogs. I am a writer. And proud of it. This is my blog. My name i...

General Conference

Image
This past weekend was General Conference. Normally, we watch all four sessions on tv. This past weekend though, was the peak time to go see the 3,000 cherry trees in blossom down by the mall in D.C. so we decided to go check it out in the morning and then be back in time for Conference at 12 pm or watch it at the Visitors Center. We went down with our friends the Carrolls. They have three kids and always take the metro. We have four, and never take the metro. It was the most crowded I've ever seen! The trains were so packed we had to wait for more empty ones to come. It was an adventure, but I will never ever take the metro to see the blossoms again! We got down there, took some pictures- which I'll post later- and had a picnic lunch and flew a little kite. We got back at 1 or 2 so we missed most of the morning session. Josh did look on his blackberry to find out the new apostle- Neil A. Anderson- the uncle of one of my BYU friends. I loved the second session and then the morni...

Easter

How did Easter come so fast this year? Is it early in the month or something? We have a fun week planned. Josh turns 30 on Thursday and we'll be going out to the Melting Pot for his birthday dinner! Yay! I also want to invite the Abbotts over for dinner next Sunday! Friday, our Church is doing a small Easter activity and while I dread sticky plastic eggs parading around my house- getting on the floor and on the couch, I'm signing up for them to do it. You're only a kid once, right? On a personal note, I've learned something about guilt. People who feel guilt want others to feel guilty and join in their pain. A certain person in my life has done this all my life. It has cultivated guilt in me. I've decided to let any and all guilt go. I am a beautiful person, whose Savior died for me and rose again that I may live. That I may repent and move on and truly do the things in life that He would have me do. This is my testimony. This is the truth. I say these things in the...

Wednesday Bi-Polar Day

I spent two and a half hours yesterday at a new psychiatrist yesterday. The dr. is Korean and all the other patients were Korean, spoke Korean, read Korean- it was really interesting. I want to learn chinese. I asked a lady the difference between written korean and written chinese. She told me that Korean has more circles. You learn something new each day! The kind dr- Mrs. Kim. Dr. Kim prescribed my lithium. My nearest pharmacy currently was out of lithium so I have to get some later today at another place. The name "lithium" slightly scares me, but I'm willing to try any medicine that doesn't make me gain 4 pounds a week (which Zyprexa has). With Zyprexa I am hungry all the time- I mean all the time- and when I work out I don't have enough energy to even walk for 15 minutes. The dr. will work on tapering off the zyprexa in 2.5 weeks. Life is interesting as always. Love, Megan
