Surviving a Stomach Bug

Hello, All! About 6 weeks ago which was one week before Christmas,  I came down with a crazy stomach bug. I was making a mad dash to the bathroom 10-12 times a day- everything I ate went straight out of me. Within a few days, I was weak and gaunt and wondered how in the world I would make a 6 and then 4 hour road trip to California to see our family after Christmas. I couldn't eat the Christmas ham or rolls or beans that I normally cherish. No pies were baked or made by my hands (a sweet friend brought over a frozen cheesecake from the cheesecake factory). The chocolate in my stocking that I normally love, sat uneaten. My diet consisted of water, unsalted saltines, chicken and broth and veggies and rice and tuna (I needed some protein to make it through the day).

And so, we postponed our vacation for a day. I gave myself a hard line that if I ran to the bathroom even once the day before, we wouldn't go. I didn't and I felt better!  We went and we had a lovely time visiting my Mom who was missing my Dad and my Grandma Betty who is 98 and doing so well (although she will ask you the same question over and over and falls asleep and wakes up confused). She turns 99 in March- can you believe it! She was so excited to see Rosie! They adore each other.

We drove up to see Josh's family in Paso and we had a great time visiting everyone and hiking (ok, strolling) to the beach! We celebrated New Years Eve there like we often do! We- Josh, me and Declan, caught a cold from our Parents there, but we had a wonderful, great visit! We were supposed to visit my sister Larissa but we were sick and so we stayed overnight in a hotel on the way home.

Right when we got back, I started feeling sick again. I lost 5 maybe 7 pounds. They did some stool samples and they came back positive for some kind of infection and inflammation. I'm sick again and just waiting to go the GI specialist and see what this is all about!
