Provo City Center Temple Open House

In 2010 an old historic building- the Provo Tabernacle- which was built in 1883 caught on fire and the inside was almost completely destroyed. A few things survived the fire- one of which was a picture of Christ burned only around the edges.

Josh and I used to attend Church Stake meetings in the Tabernacle with 3 little kids in tow. Josh's law school graduation took place at the Tabernacle so we have sweet memories of that building.

In 2011 the President of our Church- President Monson- announced that the Provo Tabernacle would be built into a Temple. The outer walls were left in tact and a new interior and foundation were built.

In February we were able to go to the Open House of the new Provo City Center Temple. Provo will now have two Temples. It is such a beautiful Temple. They decorated it in the same historic style that it was originally made in. My sister in law Kristen said that it reminded her of a beautiful mansion. That's a perfect description!

Our kids loved walking through the Temple, seeing the baptistry, the stained glass, the wedding sealing rooms and the beautiful Celstial room. What a beautiful Temple!
