Thump.

Thump. Thump. Thump. The little baby is tapping At the door of my womb. Saying "hello" "I am here" "hello" Not the loud thumps Or bangs or crashes Of the third trimester But the tiny pushes And flips and turns Of the second. Letting me know That I am not alone. That I am carrying within A sweet and small Tender package A package sent with Love and Hope And Faith.

On Marriage

Image
Josh and I have been married for awhile now. With my last sibling to get married getting married a short five weeks from now, marriage has been on my mind a lot lately. I love being married. And I love being married to Josh. It seems like we have known each other forever. We are no longer just Megan. Or just Josh. But Megan and Josh or Josh and Megan (putting whoever you are related to first). I don't know what I would be without him and I think it's the same for him. And even though we have been married for as long as we have, he still surprises me with his talents, his ingenuity, his creativity and his hard work ethic. And while we are one, we are two completely different and unique individuals. Josh is a night owl- wanting to stay up late and sleeping in just a little in the morning. He thrives off learning new things, thinking of new ideas and creating new things that never existed before. He is also an extrovert- refueling with lengthy discussions with others about ...

Ben Visits!

Image
For the past week, Josh's younger brother Ben has been visiting. His play Prodigy was being performed for the first time at the Brelby Theater up in West Valley and he also did a few showings of his one man play Questions of the Heart as well. We got the chance to see both and we loved them! We think everyone should go see his play Questions of the Heart! We have loved having him here and he has been wonderful with the kids- wrestling and chatting with them. They loved it! He even made dinner for us the night before he left- Sweet and Sour Meatballs with a vegetable tian! Yum!   On Saturday we went to the Riparian Preserve and they were doing bird walks there. We decided to go on one on the spur of the moment and it was a lot of fun! We each got a pair of binoculars, saw about 20 different birds and learned about the preserve itself. The weather was perfect!   Josh looking across a barren lake for birds.   Elizabeth   Asher   A ...

We're Having A....

Image
**With Email, Facebook and Instagram, you probably know already but I have to post it here as well!**   Oh, Boy! It's a BOY! Baby at 18 weeks. Isn't he cute? We've gotten a few comments that  he looks  like one of  us already- pretty amazing, huh? We went into the ultrasound feeling that it was a boy and we saw it pretty quickly- he was not shy at all! We are super excited! The ultrasound was really long- over an hour- since I am 35 and he was not being very cooperative.  I still had my headache *which turned out to be a sinus infection and after I FINALLY went to the Dr- I didn't think they could give me anything- and started on antiobiotics I feel a ton better!* so the ultrasound was a little uncomfortable. We had never seen a 3D ultrasound (which was only a few minutes of it but still very cool) and that was super neat. At one point, while the little man- "our little kicker" she called him (he moves around a ton already at 18 weeks)- was k...

Final Halloween

Image
Here's our crew of misfits- A Red Guy, a Blue M& M, a Zombie and  a Hobo. Here's our Resident Hobo- Elizabeth. She was kind of sad that she wasn't dressed up as something cute this year- but I had the same exact experience by dressing up as an old woman in sixth grade when everyone else was a cheerleader or a cute fairy tale character. Ethan liked this costume so much last year that he wanted to wear it again this year. I think this will be the last since it is getting frayed and worn! Jonah REALLY, REALLY wanted this red morph suit, so after finding it on sale on ebay, we got it for him. He ended up covering it with a jacket and not putting the face mask part of it on since he couldn't see through it well enough when it was dark outside. He was thrilled with it though! He was a lion for his school parade since his class had an "Under the Big Top" theme and you can still see the whiskers on his face.   Asher was a Mummy for the sc...

More Halloween..

Image
Asher!   One long Sunday afternoon (we have 8:00 Church), the kids decided to create some Gingerbread (aka Graham Cracker) Haunted Houses. Ethan decided to use the glue gun, since it holds up better, although the others decided to just use frosting since they wanted to be able to eat the whole thing.   Ethan   Jonah- needing a haircut!   Elizabeth   Jonah's finished project We normally dole out all of their Halloween Candy, little by little, for a week and then save the rest for car trips, pinatas, etc. This year we decided on Saturday, to let them eat as much as they wanted to that day- in order to get rid of most of it. This is the conversation that followed about 3 hours of candy eating: "Mom, I cannot eat any more candy!" Asher "Wow, that was the most candy I ever ate at one time!" Asher "Why DID you decide to let us eat as much candy as we want to?" Jonah (maybe regretting it) "Wah-ha-ha!!!"...

Switching Tracks from Fostering

Image
a picture in Wisconsin that my Mom took recently I am awake- still in the throes of a serious headache on this early Monday morning. Ah, well. I can use this time to write. On Train Track Switching.  When we first started on the foster-to-adopt track, a long while ago, we would often be told that now we would find ourselves pregnant. Stories would be told. Things rehashed. So much so that I began to expect it. I would buy things for the baby- wondering if it would end up being for a foster baby or for one that we had ourselves.  When we started taking the required 33 hours of foster care classes and I didn't particularly feel like leaving my children for 2 hours and sitting in a classroom every Monday night, I began to wonder "Is the whole train going to switch tracks this week? Are we going to find ourselves pregnant and not ever have to come here again?" I would even pray before almost every class: "Heavenly Father, do I really have to go to class ag...

A Sinus Headache + A Story

Image
Our Healthy Twin Boys- Ethan and Jonah This past weekend- from 5 pm on Friday evening to even as I write, was spent in bed nursing a migraine/sinus/tension headache. I'm hoping I feel better tomorrow! I'm not really sure which one of those it was- all I know is that it is mostly on the left side of my head, throbbing and I am sensitive to light and sounds and my sinuses are clogged. I think working at the school has finally caught up with me! I could feel it coming on Friday afternoon and by the time I finished up babysitting a little girl after school at 5 pm I was down for the count! Tylenol was not helping at all and the only relief I found was an ice pack to the side of my head. I finally found Excedrin for Tension Headaches with just Tylenol and Caffeine and that has helped some. Let me tell you, these past two days have been some of the worst I have ever experienced. I, once again, feel for those who have migraines and more than once.  It's still clo...
