Snow Day, #2

I love watching my kids sleep. They are so silent! Such a rarity!

Well, it's the second snow day of the year today. I knew it was going to snow and early in the morning peeked outside my window to see just how much. An inch. Okay. I thought. 1 hr or 2 hr delay- which will it be? How does this throw off my plans for today? No visiting teaching I guess.

I wished I had put Josh's phone which has unlimited internet access right by my bed. But I hadn't and there was no way I was getting out of the warm, heated bed, going downstairs, getting it and looking online. Later, I showered and checked. Canceled. Fine with me!

We've built snowmen (it was good, heavy snow), drank hot chocolate, eaten popcorn while watching Man Versus Wild (my kids love that show- except when for the eating various animal shots), eaten warm macaroni and cheese, made treats for a baby shower I'm throwing on Saturday and made cinnamon rolls- although they didn't rise as much as they could have!

More snow is forecast for this afternoon and evening! Let's see if we get no school day #3 tomorrow and if so, I will cancel piano lessons as well. Hmm. I never put a snow day clause into my piano syllabus! Oh, well!

Asher, playing the guitar at Elizabeth's piano studio I love how about half my readers are in California so that if I wait until 11 am or 12 pm to post it's only 8 am or 9 am there. Holy Week

This week has been one of wonder and amazement for me. I usually celebrate the Holy week of Easter by remembering what took place each day of the week. This week has been extra special for me. I'm not sure why- maybe it's because we are studying Easter for Come Follow Me for Church or because I have two missionaries out serving who are sacrificing their time and talents to serving the Lord full time and I know what a sacrifice it is for them. They have taken Jesus's name upon their chest and represent Him full time. Or maybe it's because I have another son who is getting ready to serve just like they are- his mission papers just submitted this Tuesday evening. My life seems embedded and imbued with the thought of Jesus Christ and His Love and Sacrifice for me and for us all. It might be too, that my social media accounts- mostly Instagram- has been filled with post after post of Jesus Christ. Abbott Family Cruise, part 2

Catalina and Ensañada were amazing! Such perfect weather. At Catalina we went on a small hike up a small mountain to botanical garden. We didn’t go in- everything was so botanical around us already. We stopped for fish and chips on afterwards and then da along the beach with our toes in the sand. The beach is my happy place!  In Ensañada, I got roped into buying a brightly colored bag right away along with a few other trinkets. We wanted to get some pesos so we asked around and then stepped into a circle K and got some. I practiced my Spanish and the lady there asked me if I was Mexicana. So sweet! It made my day.  We had fish tacos, which was my goal, although we ended paying more for them than we wanted. Josh got some street churros and those were definitely on point! We walked around with our family and popped into a few shops to do some more souvenir shopping and then headed back to the ship. It was a neat day trip all around.
