School happenings

Yesterday the kids got their postcard in the mail that tell them which teacher they have. Jonah has Mrs. Huddle. He kept forgetting her name and I tried to said Huddle, Huddle, like Buddle and then decided it wasn't good to give the kids ideas on how to say their teacher's name. A little while later, Jonah said "puddle!" As long as he doesn't call her Mrs. Puddle on the first day of class! Ethan has Mrs. Frey and Elizabeth has Ms. Reed. I called one of my friends and she said that Ms. Reed is a second year teacher and very good, so I'm excited for her! The postcards mentioned an open house on Friday and Elizabeth read it and was excited to go. Usually I don't tell them until the day of, because they get too excited- but since she can read now, she finds out all kinds of information. I somehow told them it was today and they were very sad to find out that it's not today- it's tomorrow. I have to be more careful in what I say! This is my blog. My nam...

Good Reads

I've started reading more lately and wanted to keep track of some of the books that I read. My latest reads have been these: The people of the book, Geraldine Brooks. Very good- loved it! Alicia, by Alicia Jourman. Very good. About her survival through World War II. Loved it! Just got today: The Tenant of Wildfell Hall, by Anne Bronte. So far, so good! This is my blog. Digital Scrapbookin'

I just got back from a class at Church (aka Enrichment) all about journaling in the Digital Age. My friend Katie spoke about her blog and gave a cool power point presentation on how to set up a blog. She even set up a blog for our Church group right then and there. I realized that I have been neglecting my blog. I'm sorry. I am going to try and do better. No more wandering around facebook for me! I am making a goal to blog every day this next month. There. Now I'm accountable and I am sticking to it! Then, another couple gave a great power point presentation on writing and sending out newsletters. They do this every month and then print them out and put them in a binder. At the end of the year, they have 12 newsletters going over all the latest happenings. I want to do this too and will put one out for the month of August. There. Now I'm accountable also. I'm way excited about this. I really think it will help me personally in my pursuit of happiness. Sometimes I think ...

Feelin' Good!

Asher is feeling a lot better! Good thing too or I would still be mourning the lack of sleep I got as he woke up in the middle of the night!

Scarlet Fever

So, on Monday, Asher got a really weird rash- little red bumps that covered his whole body. Other than the rash he seemed fine, so I didn't take him to see the dr. Monday night he woke up during the night- which he never does and we proceeded to give him benadryl to help with his rash. Maybe it would go away. Tuesday it was still there, but I did not want to go see the dr. Last night he woke up three times in pain and I decided that I better take him in. I took him in this afternoon and he has scarlet fever- a rash and strep throat. Poor little guy! We are supposed to keep him home for four days. Crazy! Six months ago we bought a new couch and chair and a half- with our tax return money. They just came in today. Yay for new furniture! I'm reading a lot of good, new books. I just finished The Thorn Birds and am now onto The Book something or other. Thanks to all who gave me reading suggestions! And that's what's new with us. This is my blog. My name is Megan Abbott.

Overnighter

Josh and I went on an over-nighter Saturday night. It had been five years since we left the kids over night somewhere. We dropped the kids off at Craig and Ellen's house (they were so kind to watch them for us!) and headed down into D.C. for a night on the town! We checked in to our hotel and then took the metro down to Dupont Circle, where we ate dinner at a small, nice Italian place. After that we went for a walk around town and then headed back to the hotel. It was so nice to take a break from it all and officially celebrate our anniversary. Thank you, babe, for a great time!

Poison Ivy

So, Ethan has Poison Ivy. I took the boys in to the Dr. for their 5 yr old. check up the other day. (yes, 3 months late- but they were booked when I called in June!) They are both doing well. They have grown in height from the 3rd percentile to the 7th percentile. So that's good. Although they still only weigh about 34 pounds for a five year old. The dr. noticed the red spots on Ethan's legs I was going to ask her about and said it was definitely poison ivy. They don't have it in California, so it's all new to me. Josh told that it's not really good to get it wet, because it will spread. He's been going to swimming lessons for the past week. Oops! Anyways, he has some cream on it now and is already feeling better. This is my blog. My name is Megan Abbott . p.s. Josh and I are planning a get away this weekend. More news to follow!

It's officially August. A new month. A new month is always exciting. You get to change the calendar over to a new page, you get to look at all the birthdays and anniversaries (ours is the 4th!) that are coming up, you get to plan new and fun activities for your family to do. A fun, new, exciting time! Here's to the month of August! This is my blog. My name is Megan Abbott.
