Back to School!

The kids are back to school for the Winter Semester for half the time! Yay! I'm glad that get to go in person, to learn personally from teachers, to see their friends and to keep in contact with the outside world a little more. Oh, also to play their instruments in band- that is crucial! Elizabeth is a Senior this year and she is handling all of this commotion up in the air really, really well! I'm so happy for her. She manages her anxiety well and gets all of her homework done! She's going to ASU in the Fall and we are all very excited for her! I think she's a bit nervous.  Ethan is busy working 4 days a week at QT lately. He is excited to be saving up money for his mission! Jonah is taking 3 AP classes and so is also quite busy. He's also taking Robotics this year which he really enjoys. He wants to major in something Math oriented in College. They both don't know where they want to end up for College! Asher is an awesome student and rocks it in all of his Hon...

Young Living!

Image
I wanted to share with you one of my favorite things: Young Living Essential Oils! I started using Young Living in December of 2014. I remember it clearly as I had been having headaches for quite awhile and ordered an oil called MGrain, (which has Peppermint, Basil and other oils) along with a starter kit for those headaches. I began putting it on every day- on my Temples and the back of my neck- and within a month, my headaches were a lot, lot better. It was amazing!  And thus began my adventure with Young Living.   Since then I've kept up a regular use of these oils. I love these oils. It's not just the fact that they are essential oils- parts of the plant that have been distilled. I've tried other oils- DoTerra brand, general brands at Walgreens and Target, Garden of Eden. They are not the same. Young Living uses essential oils for their pesticides while the other brands use artificial chemicals to keep the pests off. So, a small part of those pesticides go into the oils....

Sleepless Nights

As you may know, I have Bipolar Depression. After having Rosie I started back on my medicine but it didn’t help as much as it used to. I was depressed most of the time. I went to my Primary Care Dr and he told me to get a walking group together and go to counseling to help with Postpartum Depression. That helped! Finally, two weeks ago, I switched to a new Dr and he prescribed me a different medicine. I felt really good but it has caused me to wake up from 1-5 an or 3-6 for the last 10 days! I have had all the feels. Tired Sad that I couldn’t sleep Hungry Teary Testy  Hormonal  Irritated easily after a week of less sleep I finally decided that I would rather be up at night than be depressed that I was at.  And so, I’ve been up for most of the night tonight. Reading a bit, snacking, but mostly I’m so sleepy (especially with cumulative lack of sleep) that all I can do is scroll on my phone now.  I called my Dr and he prescribed a medicine to help me sleep. It di...

Happy Birthday to Me!

Image
I turned 43 last weekend! It was a great birthday! Josh picked up breakfast for me and we ate out for lunch and dinner! We ate lunch outside and realized not many places can do that! We ate at the restaurant where Elizabeth works for dinner and I loved seeing her there working so hard and I felt so proud!  We celebrated the next day with the family- since Elizabeth had to work the day before. After dinner, I had placed a very large black glass bottle of Balsamic Vinegar on the floor. The boys were rough housing a bit and Declan bumped into it and it shattered all over spraying balsamic vinegar on the cabinets, the floor and soaked Declan’s pants and some of his shirt.  The baby was sleeping luckily! I scooped him up and asked him if he was ok or cut anywhere and then noticed a decent sized gash on his foot! I knew it would need to be seen right away. I held a napkin tight over it, while pressing the sides of the cut together and calming talking to him. We decided he pro...

Declan was sick

Image
A few weeks ago, Declan came home from school not feeling very well with a cough. He had no fever and a little bit of a sore throat and some aches. At first I wasn’t too concerned- it was just a cold, but after a few days of coughing we decided to get him tested. This time around the wait was 3-5 days! That’s a long time for no playing with friends, no going to the park near our house and no going to Church. He told me- “‘Mom, I’m scared.” “Why?” I asked. “I don’t want to get it he said.” “You’ll be okay.” I told him. We stayed home, covered our coughs, watched Pokémon and finally they texted me the result. “You don’t have it” I yelled from a corner of the house. “Oh, good” he replied and kept on playing!

Ethan and Christmas

See those presents in the back? Ethan has a job for the first time this year and he went out and bought presents for us right away. Then wrapped them with ribbons and and bows and put them under the tree! What a spot on, awesome young man he is! I am so thankful for him! I love Ethan!

Testing Negative

Image
Around 3:30 on Wednesday, after waiting for what seemed like a few years, I got a ping on my telephone letting me know that my results came back- negative. Phew! And I am feeling mostly better. Trying not to do too much too soon and find myself back in bed. Mostly I am grateful. I am grateful for my health, for my home, for my full life and for the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  That was rough and I never want to go through that again. But, if I do, I am going to be prepared with a sick kit, complete with Sprite, Vitamin C drops, saltines and maybe a magazine or two.  Because you just never know!
