In 5 seconds

Image
I have 5 seconds to write before I whisk my 15 yr old daughter out the door and on to her Church Seminary class. I wake her up at 5:30 and she's out the door by 6:20 am. And so what do I want to say in those 5 seconds? Live life to the fullest! Just do it! Don't worry about who's watching Or if anyone said you could. I said you could. I just turned 40 So I should know! Love to you! Xoxoxo Megan

California’s CSET test

Image
So, my husband is currently teaching 7th grade math in california on a provisional license. They asked him o really to his current job but if anyone else applied that was certified, they would get the jo. He decided to apply for a teaching credential program at our nearby Cal Poly. And so, he has completed the application process and only has two cset tests to complete. Looks like we’re back on student loans and state insurance for a short time. All this means no dental insurance nex year and while I was saving a special root canal to be covered next year, I decided to get it done yesterday. It was long and arduous, although my dentist and hygenist were wonderful, and I came home to drop a glass full of fermenting kefir all over the kitchen floor right before diner, and embedded several pieces of glass into my feet- one of which is still there. Lesson learned- call your PA bother in law and don’t go to bed with a piece of glass stuck in your foot.

On Being Kind

I tried cutting out sugar and flour completely from my diet. It lasted two days. On Tuesday I ate not very much- a salad, three boiled eggs, a few glasses of milk and some meat. On Wednesday I had about the same, adding in a few protein smoothies *which I love*. I felt very tired because my body wasn't used to getting energy from just meat and dairy. On Thursday morning, I tried to eat more protein and high fats- coconut oil and butter in my Crio Bru and eggs and bacon. Also that morning, Declan- my 3 yr old- dumped a bowl of delicious looking, cold Life Cereal all over me and then asked if he could watch a show. I melted down! As I scrubbed the floor of the sweet bowl of carbs that I could not have and felt the milk seep into my favorite work out shoes, I got mad. "No, you CANNOT watch another show (he had watched something on my phone on waking up). NO." He started to cry and said "Mom, be kind." Oh, wow. Be still my heart. What did I...

Declan

Declan's birthday is 8 days after Josh's.  We told him that his birthday is after Josh's. The next morning, after Josh's birthday, Declan woke up and said "It's my birthday!"  Oops! We shouldn't have told him that. Now we made him a paper chain that is counting to his birthday.  Hopefully that helps! 5 more days until I have a 4 year old!

Good Morning!

I wanted to talk a little about the Book The Miracle Morning (  http://niklasgoeke.com/the-miracle-morning/ ) by Hal Elrod. Hal got in a car accident and was struggling to move forward in his life and stay positive. It was a pretty bad accident and he couldn’t walk. One morning he woke up earlier that everyone else, came downstairs and began a routine that changed his life. After reading this book I’ve tried to incorporate these steps as well. I already wake up early to do Kundalini Yoga, but am trying to add these extra steps. The steps are: 1. Moment of Silence. You sit quietly, letting everything be still 2. Read something. It can be a personal development book, anything. 3. Write something. This can be in your journal or as morning pages (see The Artists Way). 4. Get moving. This can be anything from an exercise program to jumping jacks. 5. Positive Affirmations. This is where you state your goals/affirmations out loud in a positive way. “I am a wonderful Mother...
