Happy Birthday to Me!

Image
I turned 43 last weekend! It was a great birthday! Josh picked up breakfast for me and we ate out for lunch and dinner! We ate lunch outside and realized not many places can do that! We ate at the restaurant where Elizabeth works for dinner and I loved seeing her there working so hard and I felt so proud!  We celebrated the next day with the family- since Elizabeth had to work the day before. After dinner, I had placed a very large black glass bottle of Balsamic Vinegar on the floor. The boys were rough housing a bit and Declan bumped into it and it shattered all over spraying balsamic vinegar on the cabinets, the floor and soaked Declan’s pants and some of his shirt.  The baby was sleeping luckily! I scooped him up and asked him if he was ok or cut anywhere and then noticed a decent sized gash on his foot! I knew it would need to be seen right away. I held a napkin tight over it, while pressing the sides of the cut together and calming talking to him. We decided he pro...

Declan was sick

Image
A few weeks ago, Declan came home from school not feeling very well with a cough. He had no fever and a little bit of a sore throat and some aches. At first I wasn’t too concerned- it was just a cold, but after a few days of coughing we decided to get him tested. This time around the wait was 3-5 days! That’s a long time for no playing with friends, no going to the park near our house and no going to Church. He told me- “‘Mom, I’m scared.” “Why?” I asked. “I don’t want to get it he said.” “You’ll be okay.” I told him. We stayed home, covered our coughs, watched Pokémon and finally they texted me the result. “You don’t have it” I yelled from a corner of the house. “Oh, good” he replied and kept on playing!

Ethan and Christmas

See those presents in the back? Ethan has a job for the first time this year and he went out and bought presents for us right away. Then wrapped them with ribbons and and bows and put them under the tree! What a spot on, awesome young man he is! I am so thankful for him! I love Ethan!

Testing Negative

Image
Around 3:30 on Wednesday, after waiting for what seemed like a few years, I got a ping on my telephone letting me know that my results came back- negative. Phew! And I am feeling mostly better. Trying not to do too much too soon and find myself back in bed. Mostly I am grateful. I am grateful for my health, for my home, for my full life and for the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  That was rough and I never want to go through that again. But, if I do, I am going to be prepared with a sick kit, complete with Sprite, Vitamin C drops, saltines and maybe a magazine or two.  Because you just never know!

The 2020 Election

Image
As of this writing, Joe Biden is ahead. He’s got the popular vote, he is super close to winning Georgia and Pennsylvania and Arizona. He really only needs to win one more state and then he’s won. Maybe I’ll go check the stats again- hold on! Oh, he’s got Arizona! It’s 264 Biden to 214 Trump. It’s been quite the Presidential Race but it’s been quite the year too! Here’s to a new year coming soon!

Quarantine

Image
A couple of weeks ago, I got a phone call. It was from the school nurse. I knew it was probably coming because I had gotten an email from the school earlier. A student in your child’s classroom has tested positive it stated. And it proceeded to say which periods the student had (for High School). Now, I currently have 4 High Schoolers so to get an email stating “your child” means not very much for me. Unless I see band as a period and I know it’s for sure it’s one of my three boys. After getting that email, I asked each one of my teenagers if they shared a class with this student. After some sleuthing, we discovered it was Ethan. In ceramics. So, by procedure, Ethan had to quarantine at home and teach himself Algebra 2 and AP Physics as well as AP US History all by himself. Some classes offered Zoom but they were fuzzy and quiet. Luckily Josh stepped in and tutored him on some Physics! I was happy because I could run to the store without the baby while he held down the fort.  But w...

Happy Fall, Y'all!!

Image
How has it been SIX weeks since I last blogged?! It sure has been busy around here!  The kids went back to school!! Hooray! All of them are in school full time since we live in Arizona. My hubby is still home 2-3 days a week so we aren't completely back to the normal routine. And of course, the baby is my super teething side kick! The Presidential Election has blown up into super large proportions! Arizona is a swing state, so we've been getting texts, fliers in the mail, people knocking on our door and a lot of yard signs being placed everyone- mostly for President Trump. Good things about September/October?  It's finally cooling off a bit! Yesterday it was 98 or around there! My Mom and sister and kiddos came to visit! They were the first people in our immediate families to meet Rosie. We had a fun time swimming, BBQ-ing and visiting. Fall Break! The kids had an extra 6 days off of school. It felt weird since we just went back to school, but we had a fun time going to...
