Valentine's Day

Image
For Valentines Day, the 6th grade had a social dance. They had been learning all types of dances in PE and this was their chance to practice it! I didn't get to go since Declan was napping, but I heard that it was a success! Jonah said that a teacher pulled him away from the refreshment table and made him dance. These boys are growing older!  For Family Home Evening, we made paper hearts and wrote down something nice about each person in our family. Someone must have said something really funny! Asher and his Valentines Box. Flowers from Josh! Ethan and Jonah and their loot! Declan helping me cook! He loves to stand by me and mix things! Elizabeth got contacts! We went in to get a new pair of glasses and walked away with contacts! She loves them and has done really well wearing them. A clay rose Elizabeth left for me. So sweet! What a great Valentines!

Sledding

We knew the snow would be gone soon, so the first Saturday in February we packed up and traveled the 2 minutes to a nearby park for some family sledding time. Declan lasted about 20 minutes but we had a great time getting some sledding in until then. I wore this same hat when I was little! The boys at times would wear their pajamas under their snow pants and go out early in the morning.  It rained a few days after this and it melted all the snow so we were glad we went!

On Depression

**Disclaimer- I am really okay but felt like writing a post on this. I'm not sure how to describe depression. It feels as though there is no hope. That things have always been tough and that they always will be. Small chores seem overwhelmingly difficult. Irrational thoughts like no really likes me, or I am not a very good Parent try to take over any rational thoughts. Decisions that you made when you were not depressed are things that you don't want to do anymore. It's not that you don't want them anymore, it just seems  as though it isn't possible to get it done.  Things you used to enjoy are difficult to enjoy. Things that help depression: -Doing those things you enjoy even though you don't feel like doing them. -Prayer. Lots of it. -Reading past journals and remembering how Heavenly Father helped you in the past and will help you again. -Physical exercise, eating healthy, getting out and doing things (even if you don't feel like it), being social. -Couns...

Provo City Center Temple Open House

Image
In 2010 an old historic building- the Provo Tabernacle- which was built in 1883 caught on fire and the inside was almost completely destroyed. A few things survived the fire- one of which was a picture of Christ burned only around the edges.  Josh and I used to attend Church Stake meetings in the Tabernacle with 3 little kids in tow. Josh's law school graduation took place at the Tabernacle so we have sweet memories of that building. In 2011 the President of our Church- President Monson- announced that the Provo Tabernacle would be built into a Temple. The outer walls were left in tact and a new interior and foundation were built. In February we were able to go to the Open House of the new Provo City Center Temple. Provo will now have two Temples. It is such a beautiful Temple. They decorated it in the same historic style that it was originally made in. My sister in law Kristen said that it reminded her of a beautiful mansion. That's a perfect description!  Our kids loved wal...
