For awhile there, my headache was barely there. I was taking medicine and it was managing it all very well. I was hopeful that we had finally found a solution!

And then I began having nightmares. Every other day. Then almost every day. It was the medicine (Nortriptyline) that was causing it. I tried to decide between almost daily nightmares and a daily headache. The nightmares lost.

I talked to my headache specialist and he agreed that we should stop the med right away. I hoped there was one more med that he would recommend, but nope- I had gone through the gamut.

The next thing on the list was botox injections. I won't tell you if I have a fear of needles or not (I do!). He said they did it in office, they did it all the time and when I found out my insurance would cover it, I agreed.

Hesitantly.

"So, what does it entail exactly?" I asked the sweet Dr.

"31 injections in your head, in various different places. See you in 3-4 weeks!"

oh, boy!

Yesterday was my scheduled appointment. I had thought of bringing Josh to hold my hand (fear of needles again), but I convinced myself I could do it alone.

I was wrong- I should have brought him.

After a quick weigh in, temperature check and visit, the Dr. left and returned carrying a fistful of hypothermics. A fistful.

I kindly talked myself into thinking this wasn't the same as getting shots. The needles are smaller I said to my ever growing timid self. You can use hypnobabies. Put yourself under hypnosis- quick!

The hypnosis helped me relax some, but I sure did feel all 31 injections, especially the three on my forehead.

I have no idea why some people do this for beauty reasons.

 No idea at all.

Side note: 50% of the people respond to the first botox application (he didn't tell me that beforehand). Then another 50% on the second and the third and the fourth.

Hopefully I only need to do this once. If I need to do it again, I'm bringing Josh. Oh, and I'm buying the "fear of needles" hypnobabies cd.

Totally worth the $13.

(And the botox so far? Gave me a splitting headache. Not really surprised.)
