Today I subbed at the kids school as an aide for some First Graders who have autism. Whenever I get a call to teach/aide Special Ed. I always take it happily. Josh said that most people wouldn't react that way. I do. I love those little kids! I don't think I could handle it every single day, but when I get a chance to be around them I grab it!
Today I had a few chances to talk about the Gospel. This morning, for some reason, the teacher I was helping didn't have enough copies for an assignment and I quickly ran down to the copy room to make some more. While I was there, the cross guard was making copies and since I had a talk with him earlier about our Church (his ex-wife was LDS- I found out) he said to me (somewhat accusingly) "Didn't you tell me that the largest LDS Temple is in Washington D.C? {It's not- the Salt Lake Temple is, but D.C. is the tallest} "Yes." I replied, not realizing it was actually Salt Lake. "Pretty convenient for Romney don't ya think?" was his response.
Now, this conversation doesn't seem to mean a lot, but it meant something to me. We were talking about the Church. At my work. And it made me happy.
Later, I met another Aide in the lunchroom and she mentioned that her Mom used to be LDS but she isn't anymore. They live in our housing development so I'll have to let the missionaries know where she lives. During my mission we found a lot of great people by contacting people who had listened to the missionaries before or who were inactive.
This website ldschurchtemples.com has great information on all the temples. I'll have to show it to my kids on Sunday. Sundays have been the longest days here since it's too hot to go outside, Josh takes a Sunday nap (I do too sometimes) and my kids have seen all the Sunday shows many, many times. What do you do on Sundays?
This is my blog. My name is Megan Abbott. ps- This site has great info on the Gilbert Arizona Temple as well! pps- More about the town on Gilbert
